A similar process is where I also pause the DVD, and make character sketches. I find this helps me gain a wider range of personalities to draw upon.

Here is something I do to warm up, and to study compositions. I watch DVDs of old shows (in this case, old DangerMan episodes) and make reverse storyboards, by freezing the frame, and making a rough sketch of the scene.
